Blipply and leading Kenyan Telco enter strategic partnership to drive digital payments, commerce and financial profiling in Kenya
Blipply, the Swedish AI company behind a platform for informal economies in emerging markets, has entered into a strategic partnership with one of the Kenya’s largest telecom operators with three million customers. The partnership paves the way for the launch of Blipply’s AI platform in Kenya during the latter part of Q3 2025.
The goal is to accelerate the digitalisation of payments and commerce in the informal sector, where cash accounts for over 90% of all transactions. By combining Blipply’s AI technology with the Telco’s market reach, micro-merchants and service providers will gain access to a free platform with payment tools, business services and, in time, financial products such as credit and insurance.
“The informal sector is the backbone of many emerging market economies but often lacks access to relevant, affordable and easy-to-use digital tools. Our partnership with a leading Telco in Kenya will enable millions of people to take the step into the digital economy and open up new opportunities for financing, growth and inclusion,” says Andreas Lalangas, CEO of Blipply.
